Light, whether natural or artificial, is transparent, flexible and versatile. it is difficult to expliot and control.

Good lighting brings quantifiable benefits to building owners and users, and to towns and cities, in terms of visual amenity, enhanced well being, energy and cost saving, and the avoidance of light pollution.

Good lighting seamlessly complements landscape and townscape; features; exterior and interior architecture; artifacts; and, for the most part, does not draw attention to itself. This can only be achieved through a complete understanding of both aesthetic and technical aspects of lighting design. Effective and innovative use of light requires an investment in singular lighting skills.
